Dedicated to the life, energy, and passion of Joseph Smetana, generous and loyal board member of the ACP, this award is available to senior undergraduate students in the US and from Bermuda; graduate students; post-doctoral students; Bermudian and US scientists.
The research should directly contribute to improved conservation/management of Bermuda/regional migratory species, local ecosystems, or biodiversity assessments.
Applicants must provide a detailed research proposal and budget (3-4 pages), which should include the Bermudian organization or scientist the applicant will be working with, and list of any local resources needed to accomplish the work.
Funds to be used for stipend, travel, supplies, food and housing, lab analyses, etc. Travel costs for a conference or symposium may also be considered.
The recipient will provide a complete report, a local presentation on the work and its value, and participate in PR for ACP. Any published research should be sent to the Curator at BMAZ.
